CHENNAI: Former Karnataka IPS officer K Annamalai, who joined the BJP on Tuesday, said he would dedicate his time and energy to bring national spirit to Tamil Nadu and further the cause of the party in the state and across the country.
Annamalai joined the party in the presence of BJP national general secretary Muralidhar Rao and president of its Tamil Nadu unit L Murugan at party’s headquarters in Delhi. Annamalai had met BJP president J P Nadda before joining the party.
He called himself a “loyal soldier” of party.
Reciting a couplet from Thirukkural on the qualities of a king and administrator, Annamalai said the couplet talked about fearlessness, courage, giving spirit and knowledge. “I see all these in Prime Minister Narendra Modi and all the eminent leaders of the party,” he added.
“With this, I decided that I should strengthen the movement and what the party stands for,” he said and thanked the party leadership for giving an opportunity to be part of it.
The 2011 batch IPS officer said that he had joined the party without any condition and expectations. “This party does not work as other parties where people demand and come in. I have not asked for anything in the party and would never ask,” he said.
Annamalai said he would work under party’s state president and carry out his duties.
Annamalai, who hails from Karur district in Tamil Nadu, resigned from service in September 2019.
