When the entire world is fighting against the novel coronavirus and the scientists are working to develop Covid-19 vaccine medicines, a large section of people in Assam have now started worshiping the deadly new virus as a ‘Goddess’.
Many people, mostly women, are now performing ‘Corona Devi Puja’ in Assam. They believe that it is the only way to put an end of the deadly coronavirus pandemic.
From Biswanath Chariali to Darrang district and even in Guwahati, many have performed ‘Corona Devi Puja’.
In Biswanath Chariali, a section of women on Saturday had performed ‘Corona Devi Puja’ on the bank of a river.
“We are performing puja of ‘Corona Maa’. After the puja, wind will come and destroy the virus,” a woman told India Today.
‘Corona Puja’ was also performed by the women at Dalgaon in Darrang district.
Assam on Saturday has reported 81 new positive cases for Covid-19 and with the new cases the state tally has now surged to 2,324.
Out of the new cases, 40 cases have been reported from Hojai district while 9 from Dhemaji, seven each from Barpeta and Nagaon, four each from Biswanath and airport, three from Sonitpur, two each from Karbi Anglong and Tinsukia, one each from Morigaon, Dibrugarh and Lakhimpur districts.
