The Delhi Police on Friday arrested three people in a brutal murder case.

Two accused were apprehended from Kashmere Gate in Delhi, while the third one was apprehended from Shashtri Park area. The two co-accused are still at large.

During the interrogation, accused disclosed that around 9.30 pm on Wednesday (May 20), they were cooking their food at a pavement in Delhi’s Ambedkar market when the victim, allegedly in an inebriated condition, started abusing them.

The accused also said that the man was not allowing them to cook and was, in fact, throwing sand and pebbles in their food.

Enraged over the man’s actions, the accused thrashed him. In the heat of the moment, accused Raju Dabar hit a big stone on the chest of the victim following which the latter fell unconscious on the pavement.

Thereafter, the three accused hid the man’s body behind some parked cars and fled the scene.

On Thursday around 5.45 am, police officials on patrolling duty found a dead body lying in a pool of blood on a road near pavement in Tikona Park in Delhi.

Police found that the deceased, identified as Momin, sustained injuries on his head, near his left ear.

A special team under the guidance of ACP Neeraj Kumar was constituted to solve the case.

Initial investigation revealed that all the accused persons involved in the case were vagabond and did not have a permanent residence anywhere in Delhi, which made it difficult for the team to crack the case.

However, the team focused on local inputs and deployed secret informers. It also zeroed in 30 suspects and rag pickers and interrogated them, taking all precautions in view of the novel coronavirus situation.

All the suspects, who were apprehended, were thermally scanned by using temperature gun and then enquired. Even the police officers conducted raids at several hideouts wearing PPE.
