NEW DELHI: Toyota Kirloskar Motor aims to tap the younger audience as the company announced the introduction of Gazoo Racing(GR) performance.
Speaking to TOI, Naveen Soni, Senior VP, Sales and Service at Toyota Kirloskar Motor, said, “The Toyota Gazoo Racing is a globally successful event, which will help the company to connect with the young and millennial crowd. The e-racing tournament will offer a rich experience to the target audience.”
Toyota is planning to drive in the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza-based Urban Cruiser into the Indian market during the festive season. Toyota, according to Soni, is hoping Gazoo Racing will help is promoting the brand as well as the Urban Cruiser and Glanza.
TGR will begin its India journey with the first-ever “GR Supra Gran Turismo (GT) Cup 2020” e-motorsport contest, which is based on a globally-acclaimed virtual racing championship on PlayStation 4 video game, Gran Turismo Sport
The top three national finalists will be rewarded with prize equivalent of 100k, 75k & 50k respectively and the top ten winners will be gratified through attractive GR merchandise.
At a time when Covid is forcing restricted movement, Toyota seeks an opportunity to engage with potential customers. “This contest will be a national level online event to earn a chance to further compete at the regional and global level events. Three national finalists of the Supra GT Cup will be able to compete in the regional finals in the APAC region, which will be followed by the global finals,” Soni said.
TKM is likely to reveal more about the schedule and details of the Supra GT Cup contest shortly.
Globally, Toyota competes in the Dakar Rally, World Rally Championship and World Endurance and other motorsport events under Gazoo Racing.
