NEW DELHI: Indira Gandhi National Open University (Ignou) is planning to conduct final exams from the second week of September. Around three lakh students from across India are expected to write the exams which will be conducted in three formats — pen-paper, online and multiple choice objective. However, in case any student is unable to take the exams, s/he will get another opportunity in December, along with the first and second year students.
Ignou officials said most of the students have submitted their assignments online and even the MPhil and PhD theses have been submitted online.
There are eight lakh students enrolled in various programmes of the university of which three lakh are final year students. There are close to 40,000 students from Delhi, close to one lakh from rural areas. The exams will be conducted in multiple modes this year. “Majority of the papers will be in pen-paper mode. However, some selected certificate courses will be delivered online and a few in objective format. So we will have a blended experience,” said Rao.
