Desks are cleared for Congress as Election Commission of India has rejected BSP’s demand to deny its ex MLAs right to vote in the Rajya Sabha elections on Friday for three seats from Rajasthan.

Voting will take place from 9 am to 4 pm at the Rajasthan Assembly building and the counting will begin at 5 pm.

The BSP had demanded that its six MLAs who defected into Congress be denied voting right because the party never merged with Congress.

BSP had only six MLAs and all of them joined Congress much to the annoyance of BSP supremo Mayawati.

The ECI said it has no reason to question the assembly speaker’s acceptance of BSP MLAs into Congress.

Congress and BJP both have fielded two candidates each. Both parties have kept all their MLAs in posh hotels to save them from poaching.

Congress is certain to win two seats and the BJP, one. However, there is a cloud of questions whether there will be any cross-voting.

Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has raised stakes and interest in elections accusing BJP of buying Congress and independent MLAs for hefty amounts, a charge BJP refutes calling it Gehlot’s imagination out of insecurity.

BJP later termed gathering of its MLAs as a camp. Vasundhara Raje, ex-chief minister also attended it and participated in mock polling.
