Rajkot bus close shave:  Gujarat: Close shave for GSRTC passengers as bus gets submerged at Gondal underpass in Rajkot district | Rajkot News – Times of India


RAJKOT: The passengers of a state-run Gujarat State Transport Corporation (GSRTC) bus had a close shave on Thursday when the vehicle was submerged in water in an underpass at Gondal in the Rajkot district because of heavy rain. However, nobody was hurt in this incident and all the passengers were rescued by the locals.

According to the weather department, Gondal has received 100mm rainfall during the last two days and the rain still continues. A bus of Gondal Pavagadh route was stuck in Umvada underpass as water level suddenly increased because of heavy rain. There were over 20 passengers travelling in the bus who were stuck. However, the locals, in no time, came to help and rescued all the passengers safely. Some of the passengers also climbed on the roof of the bus to save their lives.

The water is not receding because of continuous rainfall, an ambulance was also stuck in the water at noon.
Heavy rainfall continues in the parts of Saurasthra since Wednesday including in Rajkot, Gir Somnath, Junagadh, Amreli, Bhavnagar and Devbhumi Dwarka districts. According to the weather department, the rain is expected to continue till Sunday.
