NEW DELHI: NEW DELHI: Rakesh Asthana was on Tuesday appointed the Delhi Police commissioner.
Earlier, Asthana held the post of director general, Border Security Force (BSF).
Asthana, a 1984-batch IPS officer, had served as the Special Director of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). During his stint in the CBI, he was engaged in an unsavoury spat with the then CBI Director Alok Verma.
The recently revealed list of the Pegasus software, containing numbers of potential snooping targets, also had numbers of Alok Verma and his family, and of Rakesh Asthana, The Wire reported.
SS Deswal, director general Indo-Tibetan Border Police, has been given additional charge of the post of DG, BSF, after Asthana was appointed as Delhi Police commissioner.
