Assam Health Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday expressed concern over a morphed screenshot of his earlier tweet. The morphed tweet carried incorrect information about fresh Covid19 positive cases in the state.

The Assam health minister has asked Assam police to file an FIR and investigate the matter.

Taking to Twitter, Himanta Biswa Sarma said, “I have noted with deep concern an altered/morphed screenshot of my tweet – where the numbers have been changed. Asking @assampolice to immediately file an FIR and investigate @DGPAssamPolice.”

The morphed tweet stated that eight persons who travelled from Rajasthan to the Cachar district in the state had tested positive for the virus.

Assam police have started an investigation into the matter.

Assam has reported 64 positive cases of Covid-19 so far and out of that, 34 patients have been discharged from hospitals.
