Assam reports 111 new Covid-19 cases, tally rises to 1,672


Assam registered 111 fresh cases of Covid-19 on Wednesday, with which the state tally increased to 1,672. The new cases were reported from seven districts of the state.

Out of the fresh cases, 66 positive cases for Covid-19 were reported from Dhubri district, 18 cases from Golaghat, 13 from Darrang, five from Karimganj, four from Nagaon, three from Sonitpur and two from Lakhimpur.

Assam Health Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma tweeted saying, “51 new cases of #COVID19+. 28 Dhubri, 13 Darrang, 5 Karimganj, 3 Sonitpur, 2 Lakhimpur. Total cases 1672.”

On Tuesday, the state registered 76 new cases of the novel coronavirus.

The state has so far reported 1672 positive cases for Covid-19 and out of them 337 patients were discharged from hospitals.

The state has now 1328 active positive cases for the new virus.

Meanwhile, Nagaland reported nine new cases of Covid-19 on Wednesday, taking the state tally to 58.

Nagaland Health Minister S Pangnyu Phom said nine persons who returned to the state from Chennai recently tested positive for Covid-19.

He said in a tweet: “Out of 115 samples tested, 9 more returnees from Chennai tested Covid-19 positive. Positive : 58, Active : 58.”
