Cloudburst in Jammu Kashmir: Cloudburst hits Jammu and Kashmir village; over 30 reported missing, 4 bodies found | India News –

JAMMU: Over 30 people have been reported missing after a cloudburst hit a remote village in Jammu and Kashmir‘s Kishtwar district early on Wednesday, officials said, adding that four bodies have so far been recovered from the debris.
Around nine houses have been damaged due to the cloudburst at Kishtwar’s Honzar village, deputy commissioner, Kishtwar, said. The Indian Air Force has been contacted for rescue operations, the officer said.
Rescue teams have already been rushed to Honzar village of Dacchan tehsil and further details are awaited, officials added.

Rescue operations going on with help of SDRF and Army. Air Force authorities contacted for lifting the injured as and when required.Keeping close track of the situation. Every kind of further help will be provided as per requirement,” tweeted Union Minister Jitendra Singh.

Jammu has been receiving heavy rainfall since the past few days. More spells of rain have been forecast for Jammu till July-end. Authorities in Kishtwar have asked people living along waterbodies and slide-prone areas to remain vigilant.
“The meteorological department has predicted heavy rains during the upcoming days and water levels in rivers and nallas are expected to rise, which can pose a threat to the inhabitants residing near rivers, nallas, water bodies and slide-prone areas,” the district administration had said in an advisory issued late on Tuesday night.
