Corona wave in Gurugram: Millennium City reports 16 cases, adds 11 new containment zones


With 16 fresh cases reported on Tuesday, the total number of Coronavirus-infected patients in Gurugram rose to 161. Of these, 70 patients have been discharged, officials said. In the last seven days, the city has seen 74 positive cases, the officials said.

Among 16 patients reported positive on Tuesday, six are from Sarhol village, two in DLF Phase 3, two healthcare staff of Gurugram’s civil hospital in Sector 10, and one case each from DLF Phase 1, Ravi Nagar, Baliawas, Devilal colony, Khandsa road near Balaji temple, and Bajghera area.

JS Punia, the civil surgeon of Gurugram, said: “These infected persons came in contact with Corona positive patients detected earlier. Three of them are vegetable sellers and one is a security staffer of DLF Phase 1. Their houses are declared as quarantine home and family members are asked to stay inside for 21 days. The patients are isolated in different government and private hospitals.”

Punia further said: “Apart from Covid positive patients, 61 persons are under close surveillance of health officials in different quarantine facilities.”

Gurugram district administration has taken samples of 8574 suspected persons and 7933 turn negative while reports of 480 suspects are still awaited.

Meanwhile, Gurugram district magistrate Amit Khatri said that 11 new containment zones have been declared in Gurugram block while 2 each in Sohna and Pataudi blocks. We have 25 containment zones in entire district with 21 only in Gurugram block.

The 11 new containment zones include Ashok Vihar, Islampur village, Kadipur enclave, Surat Nagar, Khandsa road vegetable market area, Shakti Nagar, Anand garden, Krishna nagar, Jyoti Park, and Baldev Nagar.

The areas which are already in containment zones are Palam Vihar, Sirhaul village’s lane 1, lane 7 and lane 6B, Dundehera, New Palam Vihar, Sector 12, Fazilpur, Jharsa village Sector 39, Tyagi Mohalla, Meghdoot Apartment, Sector 10A, Om Nagar, Gahlot Vihar, Javed Colony, Pahad Colony, Nut Colony, ITI Colony Sohna, Raipur village, Shiv Kund, Mohalla Thakurwada Bhagat Wada, ward number 11 ward number 14 of Pataudi.
