When your child is sick, the symptoms are the indicators of what the disease is. But what if the symptoms are common in two or more diseases? Since RSV and COVID-19 are both respiratory illnesses, many of the initial symptoms may be the same. So how can you differentiate between the two?

There may be certain hints and clues to tell the diseases apart.

For instance, a person down with COVID may develop ailments associated with digestive health, they may experience skin complications such as a rash and/or also experience a loss of sense of smell or taste, whereas these symptoms are not common in RSV infection.

However, the best way to find out the source of your child’s infection is through a test. That said, if your kid or anyone in the family develops any symptoms, do not hesitate to call your doctor and schedule a test.
