MUMBAI: A special NDPS court on Thursday allowed the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) to visit Taloja jail and record statements of Rhea Chakraborty’s brother Showik Chakraborty and deceased actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s cook, Dipesh Sawant. Both Showik and Sawant are arrested in the drugs case linked to actor Rajput’s death.

In the plea seeking permission to question Showik, the NCB said he had disclosed names of “high-profile personalities” in relation to drug trafficking. NCB claimed that Showik’s mobile data disclosed his “deep involvement” in drug dealing and “long chats” with some high-profile personalities. The NCB said that needed to be investigated.

“Therefore it is prayed that applicant be allowed to visit Taloja jail and record statement of respondent in presence of jail authorities,” special public prosecutor Atul Sarpande said. Special judge GB Gurao allowed the plea.

Showik (24) was arrested on September 4 and Chembur resident Sawant (25) a day later. Their bail pleas were rejected by the NDPS court. Showik’s appeal is pending before the Bombay high court.

Sawant and Rajput’s house manager, Samuel Miranda are accused of receiving marijuana on behalf of him.
