Didn’t use Rajput’s money to buy flat, meet expenses: Rhea to ED – Times of India

MUMBAI: Actor Rhea Chakraborty, who is under the scanner in the Sushant Singh Rajput case, told Enforcement Directorate that she had not used his money for any of her investments and had availed a bank loan to buy a flat in the suburbs.

ED on Friday recorded her statement and has summoned her father Indrajit and brother Showik on Monday. It is probing Rajput’s financial transactions, including allegations that Rs 15 crore were siphoned off from his account. Rhea reportedly told ED officials that she had purchased a flat in Khar (east) worth Rs 85 lakh for which she availed a bank loan and added Rs 25 lakh from her own savings. She claimed to have paid in instalments.

She also denied using Rajput’s money for her expenses and stated she has been managing from her own earnings. She claimed she was director only in one of the two firms along with Rajput. Showik was a director in both the companies which are under the ED lens. ED may call Rhea for further clarifications. It also recorded the statement of Rajput’s former business manager Shruti Modi.

The officials are probing the purchase details of two flats — at Khar East and in Navi Mumbai. They are investigating if Rajput’s money was used for any of these. Rhea’s advocate Satish Maneshinde said, “She has been examined and her statement, along with that of her fathers and brother, has been recorded. They had all documents, including I-T returns. If called again, she will appear at the appointed time.”
