The number of coronavirus cases in Gujarat’s Ahmedabad district reached 9,449 on Thursday after 233 new patients were detected, a senior health official said.

Out of 24 Covid-19 patients who died in Gujarat since previous evening, 17 died in hospitals in Ahmedabad city alone, said Principal Secretary (Health) Jayanti Ravi.

The district remains the worst-affected one in Gujarat with 9,449 cases and 619 deaths reported so far.

On the other hand, of 269 patients who walked out of hospitals across Gujarat upon full recovery on Thursday, 200 were discharged in Ahmedabad.

Since Wednesday evening, 225 positive cases were recorded in Ahmedabad city and eight in rural areas of the district.

The city has recorded 9,302 coronavirus cases so far while remaining 147 cases were reported in other parts of the district.

The state bus service has resumed in Gujarat but not in Ahmedabad in view of the massive spread of the virus.
