NEW DELHI: Kia Motors on Friday announced that the car manufacturer has achieved 1 lakh cumulative sales in the Indian market. Kia made its India debut 11 months ago and now claims to be the fastest automaker to achieve the sales figure.
Kia has three products in its India line-up that include Kia Seltos SUV, Kia Carnival MPV and the upcoming Kia Sonet scheduled for August 7 debut.
Followed by the launch during the festive season, the Sonet will enable Kia to enter the highly-competitive compact SUV segment in the Indian market.
Kookhyun Shim, MD and CEO, Kia Motors India said, “2019 marked an important year for Kia as we introduced our first car for the Indian market with an aim to become a household name in the country. We are overwhelmed with the response and acceptance that Indian customers have shown towards us. Reaching the one lakh milestone with just two products, in a record eleven-month time, is a testament to our commitment to India.
