In view of the surge in Covid-19 cases, the Mon administration in Nagaland has enforced a total lockdown in the district till June 28.

In light of certain emergency circumstances and with a view to contain the spread of Covid-19, the district administration has enforced a total lockdown starting from Thursday (June 25) for four days.

In an order issued by Thavaseelan K, Deputy Commissioner of Mon district stated that movement of public is strictly prohibited except on medical emergencies, all shops except pharmacies will remain closed, movement of private vehicles is strictly prohibited during the lockdown period and any person found violating the order will be penalised under relevant provisions of the law.

Nagaland has so far reported 355 cases of Covid-19. The state registered eight new Covid-19 cases on Thursday.

Nagaland Health Minister S Pangnyu Phom said out of the eight new cases, five cases were reported from Kohima and the other three from Dimapur.

He tweeted saying, “8 new cases of Covid-19 +ve have been reported out of 316 samples tested. 5 patients from Kohima QC & 3 from Dimapur QC. Positive : 355, Active : 207, Recovered : 148.”

Meanwhile, Assam has reported 6,370 positive cases of the novel coronavirus so far. The state recorded 314 Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours.
