JAMMU: Security forces on Thursday eliminated two terrorists while two jawans attained martyrdom in a fierce gun battle in the forward location along Line of Control (LoC) of Sunderbani sector in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir.
According to sources one jawan also sustained injuries in the encounter.
“A fierce gunfight broke out between a group of infiltrated terrorists and joint teams of Army, police and paramilitary forces,” sources said.
They further added that two unidentified armed terrorists have been neutralized in the operation and two army personnel have attained martyrdom while one jawan has suffered injuries.
Initially, the incident was briefly confirmed through a message on official Twitter handle of White Knight Corps, “Infiltration bid foiled in Sunderbani Sector. Further operations in progress.”
PRO (Defence) Jammu Lt Col Devender Anand said,” Based on information regarding infiltration and movement of terrorists in the area of Dadal, Sundarbani Sector, District Rajouri (J&K), the Army had launched extensive search operations with effect from June 29.”
“Subsequently, the information was corroborated today (July 8) and a search and destroy patrol seeking proactive engagement with the terrorists, spotted the terrorists in Dadal forest area, Col Anand said, adding, “that the army party challenged them.”
“The terrorists opened indiscriminate fire and also lobbed hand grenades leading to a fierce encounter in which two foreign terrorists from Pakistan have been killed.”
“Two AK-47 rifles and ammunition in heavy quantity have been recovered from the terrorists. In the operation, Col Anand said.
Meanwhile during the ensuing gunfight, Nb Sub Sreejith M and Sep Maruprolu Jaswanth Reddy received fatal injuries.
“A detailed search of the area is continued, Army spokesperson added.
Pertinently Army on Wednesday morning also had neutralized one Pakistani Terrorist and recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition comprising one Ak-47, two hand grenades, magazines, in Nowshera sector of Rajouri.
