CHENNAI: Actor and DMDK founder president Vijayakant is undergoing treatment in a private hospital in Chennai after testing positive for Covid-19. He has only mild symptoms, according to a statement issued by DMDK on Thursday morning.
“He is fine and safe now,” the statement said.
Popularly known as ‘Captain’ among party cadre and his fans, the development set off alarm bells since Vijayakant has been suffering from other ailments too.
The party has moved in quickly and issued a clarification, calming the nerves of DMDK cadre. “Vijayakant undertakes complete health check-up once every six months. When he went to MIOT Hospital for the check-up this time, it was detected that he had mild symptoms. He has been treated for it,” the party statement said.
