KOLKATA: West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee on Tuesday declared that state will continue with the lockdown protocol till August 31 with relaxations, but there will be two days in a week when there will be complete lockdown.
Earlier, the Bengal government had announced lockdown protocol to be followed till July end.
CM Mamata Banerjee said that there will be complete lockdowns in the state twice a week. However, due to Eid-ul-Zuha festival, the lockdown will be imposed on August 2 in instead of August 1.
The CM said that the next complete lockdown will be held on August 5, Wednesday followed by August 8 and 9.
Similarly, there won’t be any lockdown on August 15, Saturday on account of Independence Day. The lockdown will be observed on August 16 and 17.
The CM said that the state will observe complete lockdown on Saundays.
The CM said that all the schools and educational institutions will remain closed till August-end and if situation improves, then classes will resume on alternate days from September 5.
