CHENNAI: The Tamil Nadu government has proposed to reopen schools for IX, X, XI and XII students on September 1.
In a statement on Friday, chief minister M K Stalin said that it had been decided to have 50% students at a time in these sections by following standard operating procedures. “The school education department has been told to start the preliminary work,” he said.
All medical and nursing colleges will be allowed to function from August 16.
The chief minister said the lockdown would be extended for two weeks till August 23.
Public worship will be prohibited in all places of worship on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.
The local bodies have to ensure sale of meat and fish in open areas separately to avoid crowding in meat and fish markets.
